Taiwan Day 4 (Nantou)

Our breakfast for another day at Kaohsiung, 大ㄎㄡ胖炭烤三明治. Err the food, okay lo? We had that back in Malaysia too and in a more charcoal version perhaps with bread and jam. The difference here is they served charcoal bread with egg, ham and chicken floss according to your preference. I remembered the ones with chicken floss is nice!

After buying the bread, we drive to the opposite shop (yellow signboard) to buy our drinks, the 樺豐鮮奶茶. We ordered the milk tea, red bean soy milk and soy milk, the drinks are a little too sweet for my liking. But you guys can try because I'm not someone who loves sweet stuff, now that I'm in Indonesia everything is sweet here even the tea and so only I understand that what I consumed last time is actually not that sweet though.

Our next tourist spot, Monster Village (妖怪村). A place with lots of monster statue with weird food names, souvenir and postcard. A place for sightseeing perhaps, below I attached it with lots of photos you can refer to. We are just in time to watch the two monster performance and some interaction with the tourist here.

We did buy something to eat. which is this! (I don't know the name XD) It's sort of sticky cake, very sticky. Buy just a bit and try if you want but don't be like us, we are persuaded by this lady to buy one big box which cost NT340, ended up we couldn't finish the whole thing and throw some away :( It's too sticky and the flavour smell a little too perfume, we think it will be better to consume it with a cup of hot tea to balanced up the stickiness in it.

Time for some hot food, the ginger red/green bean with sweet potato. This is delicious! It's a few minutes journey going down the hill from Monster Village. A bowl cost around NT40-45. The boss is so kind to give us a pack of processing dried sweet potato to try.

Next station, Sun Moon Lake (日月潭). There's a few spot to stop your car and jogging track to walk around the lake but we did not walk the trail. Our driver bring us to only two stop? But that's enough for sightseeing. The lake is beautiful, we even had our 那些年 group photo shoot there.

The tea egg (茶叶蛋) there is good too, NT15 for one if not mistaken. The grandma that had been selling tea egg for years

Another stop for dessert. This is just so so although they have large advertisement, not sure but not my liking. This four pieces cost us NT395. I don't really like all three puddings there, while for the cake I prefer the ones at Moncoeur, Taichung.

Dinner on the way to our homestay that night at 清境, we are brought to this restaurant that served some authentic dish. Those vegetables are indigenous people dishes, not sure what the names are as it's ordered by the driver. The taufu is nice! We ordered another same dish of taufu after we finished the first ones within minutes. Lastly the famous chicken (甕仔雞). The chicken is stuffed with lots of herbs and braised roast in barrel. The overall food taste not bad. The total bill for 3 plates of vegetables, 2 plates of taufu and 1 chicken is NT1440.

Todays night is a nightmare for lots of people as the homestay we rent are so bad compared to our stay last three days. The house heater is in bad condition. The house is not really clean with wood smell. A very old kind of house no one would love to stay. Sleep early and next post shall be the beautiful sunrise on top of the hill :)
