Taiwan Day 3 (Kenting - Pintung - Kaohsiung)

Good morning, this morning we start our day with burger! We came upon to this famous burger shop 拉亞漢堡, Laya Burger. I'm always finding something different to try and found this QBurger (Q比堡). I ordered a set of black tea and smoked chicken Qburger that cost NT60. It tastes a lot like Subway, quite nice :)

This is 水煎包 pan-fried bun or dumpling bought from the opposite shop. Taste okay, just for trying ;)

Our destination, the beach! Our plan is initially to ride submarine but due to the bad weather and wave we cancelled our plan and head to the beach but not to play water as we already check out our hotel and there's no place for us to bath and change. Okay, we do clean ourselves in a small washroom at the opposite of beach with charges of NT50.

Our lunch at 熊家萬巒豬腳 for the pig knuckles. This is nice but the price is on the high side but worth it, pig knuckles is indeed expensive. But the hakka mee, okay la.

Our next stop after that not so full lunch trying ba-wan (肉圆), different dumplings and fried pancake.

Another stop to try out Pintung food. Here is 绿豆蒜 a very starchy food guess its makes of flour and green bean.

I forget the name for this but it tastes good with the onion flavour. This can be stored for few days, while the photo below is the making process.

The driver then drive us to another street for more food. Fried sweet potato with maltose (麥芽糖), something new to try ;)

And some drinks, bitter tea (苦茶), lotus tea (莲藕茶) and herb tea (青草茶). Try try, it's good for health they claim :)

We end our day at a homestay beside Liuhe night market (六合夜市). But that day rains very heavily and some of us no longer looking forward to night market. As some starting to felt ill and had sore throat for eating so much of fried food and not drinking enough water. We initially want to simply settle our dinner in a restaurant but the price is really high hence we simply bump into any stall with shelter.
This is the first stall we come upon. We are sitting just in front of the pot and it's unique with the low squat counter (like what I encounter in Vietnam). The noodles (擔仔麵) are special but the portion is really way to small for NT40. It tasted a lot like watery Loh mee and you can opt to add vinegar, it taste even better but that's up to own preference.

The rain eventually stops and therefore with our not full stomach we continue our food hunt journey to the second stall, oyster omelette (蚵仔煎). The taste here in Taiwan is different from Malaysia, their starch is not fully cooked and still has that sticky texture and it is consumed together with tomato sauce not like what we used to eat it with chilli sauce. Btw, their oyster is fresh and big in size. I actually love the taste here but my friends have a different opinion.

Our last stop in this inconspicuous old shop at the very end of the night market hiding behind all those stalls. Came upon this as the name of the noodles is cute (阳春面, 盐水意面, and etc.) and the price is cheap cost NT40 per bowl, we didn't expect it to be served in such large portion (2-3 times larger than the previous noodles we ate). This is the best! We ordered both noodles but it tasted almost the same except the appearance of the noodles, one is thinner while another is broader. Oh, one has addition taste of sesame. We ordered their spare rib soup (排骨酥汤) too, definitely a must try! The tender meat and the soup, mmm~

Tonight we stay in a separate house under the same building but different floor. That night we had our girls talk, we talk till late night with no beer while we heard that the guys went to bed early that night, haha! Oh, I remembered we did a 3 hours shopping at Shinkuchan commercial district (新崛江商圈) before we depart to our homestay. Our conversation starts from clothes to makeup, future to the past, and memories to gossip. That night was indeed the best night!
