Taiwan Day 2 (Taichung - Kenting)

We check out the homestay another morning and depart to the next destination. That's how our first five days in Taiwan goes like as we are travelling from north to south and back to north again so most of our time is spent on car and we were able to visit only two or three tourist spot only per day. Our driver brought us to lots of restaurants to try different local food which I can't really remember all the names, should have noted that down one by one.

Here's our takeaway breakfast, as we are rushing time so our driver fetched us to this restaurant named 天味早餐 to try out their sandwich (吐司) and egg pancake roll (蛋饼) with different flavours. Prices are ranging from NT25 to NT50. We ordered some cheap ones on our first day. It tastes good but I prefer the egg pancake roll selling at the morning stall near Fengjia University ones.

The typical tourist spot, rainbow village (彩虹眷村). It is a piece of colourful art drawn on the wall, window and door by a grandfather as a hobby. With this painting, it gives this place spirit and vitality. The blessing wrote and drawn on the wall make you feels positive. I would love to hang out here when I'm moody if this place is near my house. Oh not to forget, they do sell some beautiful souvenir here. Very cheerful stuff, I did buy some as to support the grandfather too.

Tried this Wa Gui (碗粿) at 阿蘭碗粿, very nice! Another local food, some called it the savoury rice pudding while some called it the bowl rice cake, It taste a lot similar to the taro cake we had back in Malaysia but served with their special sauce. It cost only NT25 for each bowl, it's quite cheap for the portion. Apart from that, we ordered also other side dishes and soup, tasted so so only. Their Wa Gui definitely is the bomb as we tried another one at other places it doesn't taste the same.

Today's journey had a lot to do with local food. We later reached this restaurant serving yam desserts, it's a very small restaurant at the corner, very local as I see the restaurant customers are all local people. However, we don't really favour their food. Their service was not good as well as we don't really understand their language although we are all Chinese but the use of the words and slang are still different and we got served really bad, I think they thought we are China people? I don't know the problem :(

This Gui Ling Gao nothing to shout out, we had that too. But it's another stop at somewhere our driver bought us.

Oh, this mango is nice! It's Irwin (爱文) type, Taiwan local fruit. It's red and small in size. We just randomly stop at some shop at Tainan on our way to Kenting. I remembered it's quite cheap compared to the price here in Malaysia.

And finally we reached Kenting hotel, and off we go for our second night market Kenting Street night market!

This is the best from all, beef noodles! This beef stall located at very end of the night market just right beside the manual basketball machine? Something very new to watch, I mean that manual basketball tic-tac-too game! Back to the beef noodles and steak, the cheapest I found and taste really delicious! They served free tea also. A stall worth eating :)

Staying in a eight people room this time, all girls time! We end our night eating mango this time. Oh, the boys decided to pay a visit to our room and we had our usual chat till night?

Ending this post with the night view of Kenting after rain shot by my friend.
