Here comes part 2 of Seoul food!
1. Gimbap @ Hongik Exit 3
Morning breakfast before heading to Everland selling in front of the stairs/elevator of Hongik Exit 3 before you walk down to the subway station. This is cheap and good with two flavours of choice.

Crab meat gimbap 2000 won |

Tuna gimbap 2000 won |
2. BBQ @ Piggy Bank, Hongdae 小豬存錢筒 돼지저금통
This shop is famous for their grilled meat on stone. The size of the shop is not big, hence the queue. It's expensive by the way but why not try and it looks good on the photo too. Even the free cold water provided is served with stones in it. Not the normal stone though you find on the beach or park, it's a big black smooth stone I think is about the concept of sauna, the one found in water is a bit purplish. It says that by grilling it on the stone, it will be less oily and less burnt. 200g per portion wasn't too much for one, you probably would snack for second round on something else. They sell also beef apart from pork which is their main selling, you can order base on the parts of pork.

Grilled pork 12000 won per portion |
 |
Mushroom platter 6000 won |
3. Chicken steak with drinks @ Nuclear Steak, Hongdae
It's a trendy food you would find every teenager here in Hongdae holding especially night time. It's steak (of your choice) on top with fries and some vegetable and the amazing part of it is they served it with drinks at the bottom, so the plate on top is actually quite shallow. But this little trendy snack is cute, delicious and not very expensive, very catchy and immediately attract us to buy and give it a try. They are famous for their ageing beef steak which selling at the same price as chicken. Go and give it a try if you are there. We opt for a carbonated drink which adds on to 1000 won from the original platter if you are thinking to go for some beer which I think that's what most of the people order here is an add-on of 2000 won only, pretty cheap.

Chicken steak with drink 7900 won |
4. Western Food @ Han's Deli, MyeongDong
Went to this restaurant because basically, this is the cheapest restaurant we find in Myeongdong area. But definitely, we are pleasant with our choice as when we first flip the menu the price is cheap, and we didn't expect the portion to be that big. Definitely worth the price with the free drinks served. It's a lot of self service based here as they don't have many waiters here. My order of Kimchi Cheese Doria (rice) cost only 4900 won, so this shows how cheap is it in the city of Myeongdong.

Cheese oven pasta 6300 won |
 |
Carbonara pasta 6500 won |
5. Rose ice cream @ Milky Bee, MyeongDong
Basically, this is an expensive ice cream (I cut eat another bowl of Kimchi cheese rice in Han's Deli) just because of it's beautifully scooped and arranged, definitely an insta-worthy photo but hype wise not really as the taste is like the normal yoghurt ice cream and actually this melts a lot faster.
 |
Rose ice cream (yoghurt + strawberry) 5500 won |
6. Fried chicken and beer @ Hongdae
Bought a boneless chicken from a random restaurant in the Hongdae area, we decided to take away and eat together with the beer we bought from the CU convenient store located near the park and join the crowd on our last night. We bought half set of the chicken but not till we open up and look at the park, we got a free beer too from them, are we receiving the wrong pack? Our first Korea movie kinda thing in Korea, beer with chicken which is really really good in a cool weather! I miss those moments, totally not because only that beer :P Cass is the brand of the beer you see them drinking so we opt to try that one though there's a lot of advertisement on another brand of beer Hite.

Half set boneless fried chicken 10000 won |
 |
Cass beer 1750 won |
7. Kalguksu and Sujebi @ Kalguksu Alley, Namdaemun Market
As soon as you enter the alley, all the ahjummas will start to pull you and convince you to eat at their stall and hence we basically settled on the first stall itself. But you see the local walk in and choose their favourite stall as if every stall actually taste different which I'm not sure of that. But the first stall I ate is actually good enough. One bowl only cost at 5000 won with lots of side dish which looks a lot like the main dish such as barley rice, seaweed and blanched vegetable with kimchi. I and my aunt sit just in front of the stall and hence the ahjumma did teach us to eat the correct way. Practically the cheapest meal we had in Seoul and yet it's delicious just that there's no meat in it, very basic main of noodles and rice with vegetables.
 |
Kalguksu (Knife chopped noodles) 5000 won |
 |
Sujebi 5000 won |
We bought also jjingpang (steamed bun) before we spotted the alley because we are super hungry but we kept it right after we saw this alley. And hence not manage to finish that cause super full after the meal. 1500 won for one jjingpang of different flavours, red bean is the most popular of all. We had fruits also, fresh sweet fruits of pineapple and watermelon so nice for 1000 won each just beside the exit 5 of Hoehyeon.
8. Airport meal @ Gimpo International Airport
Lastly having dinner at the airport while waiting for the flight. It's more towards katsu and curry for our order price ranging between 7000 won - 8500 won. Got myself a cup of coffee to help me in digesting problem and choosing that probably because it's the cheapest, it's Korea after all.
Flying to Jeju and reaching there at night. See you in the next post!
