We had this annual coursemate trip almost every year during schooling day. Our last trip happens a month after our exam last year. So this is the first trip after everyone started working, we managed to still squeeze out some time, some take leave to be able to attend the trip which I'm very proud of it because we are still putting effort on meeting up. Looking forward if there's another next.
Though we are not staying exactly in Taman Negara but Kuala Tahan, we had enough fun going back to nature for some oxygen and peace (my phone connection wasn't good there). We bought a 2 days 1 night stay package from Wild Travellers for RM270 which include a 4 pax air-conditional room, one breakfast, one lunch, one dinner, rapid shooting, visit orang asli settlement, night jungle walk, canopy walkway and hill teresek hiking which is quite worthy.
We gather at PJ for the famous chicken rice before we depart. After around 3 hours journey, we reached MCD to have lunch before we continue our journey into the forest. Oh, remember to pump petrol before you drive into the jungle, there's no petrol station in it. And the road is quite curvy, drive safe people while enjoying the scenery. Lots of palm oil tree along the way and if you are lucky enough, you see cow crossing the road remember to slow down your car to avoid the sudden break.
This is how it looks like. The river is yellow, water is dirty. Though they claimed that the river is much clearer a few days ago as it's raining yesterday and the day before hence the mud flow into the river and hence it's the brownish colour.
A group photo before we start our tour.
Our first activity, the rapid shooting! And now we totally understand what rapid shooting means. The boat is ride right and left all the way and it's felt like it's gonna sink or capsize in no meantime as water is splashing in by another boat beside us or the tour guide purposely splash it with the paddle. It was very exciting, we scream all the way throughout the boat ride. I even took out my spectacles afraid that the huge impact might happen to make it slip off my face.
We finally reached the orang asli settlement in all wet conditions. The tour guide gave us a good 10 minutes to walk around this small area before he starts his briefing and description on these people and the village itself. There's also demo from the locals on how to lit the fire with bare woods and the making of weapon.
Upon reaching the lane, rain started to pour heavily. We are old to enjoy walking in the rain, now that our immune system is getting weak, we might just fall sick.
The night view is aww~ Having our simple buffet dinner on the floating restaurant. All the restaurant here is literally floating beside the river, you will need some balancing skill walking across the wood.
After our dinner, we continue our tour with a small night jungle walk trying to find insects and animals using torchlight. Without touch light, the space is literally black, you can't even see your finger. Our group is quite a big one, walking at the back without proper torchlight, I think I miss out 50% of what the tour guide in front explaining.
Sleeping off at around 3am having some night talk with the girls and beer. What left regretted is that the sky is not dark enough to have us enjoying a sky full with stars.
Waking up early the other morning for breakfast and our last jungle walk activity, a bit of hiking and walking in the green and on the suspension bridge, they also called it as the canopy walk. It was all fresh surrounding by the greens. I miss the nature.
Signing off in the afternoon after another round of buffet lunch. We do leave some note on the tourist book signing as Food Weirdo. For more information, do check out here.
It was overall a good experience, a break from work before all audit schedule started. Was thinking to come back another day for a cave stay.
