Explore Borneo Project 2: Riam Marum Waterfall

The second explore trip continue to another nature scene, the waterfall! This place took proximate 2 hours drive from Rio's house in Bengkayang. The road to this village Riam Marum is very bumpy though, you will first passby Riam Merasap. The road become really bad for a car after Riam Merasap, lots of holes, stones and narrow (not even a normal size of one way road). But the scenery here worth it all. Hopefully the government get to improve the roadway here. Pontianak city improved a lot, heard that 5 years back the tallest building they had here is 2 floors building, now you can at least find a 10 floors building.

When we step foot in this village, the sky is already dark, time around 6pm. Greeted by Rio's friend the local people there served us local dishes for dinner and off greeting the head of this village and off our journey to the waterfall side. It's approximate 1 km walk into the forest. Torchlight needed. Awesome night, we chat till late night and I ended up sleeping at the hut. Thanks Resky for the comfortable sleeping bag that kept me warm for the whole night. Quiet gentleman *applause*

The view you wake up to another morning. I miss these beautiful scenery, so close to nature.

The mandatory tourist photo with the group. We are from the Poor English Club *wink* From the top left: Loy and Red (China), Fay (Indonesia), Thanh and Hien (Vietnam), bottom: Aki and Nur (Indonesia).

Both Qing Gong master giving tutorial.

This place is so relaxing, the sound of the water pouring, the fresh air, the green scenery. What you need to do next is just laying down lazily on the stone. Examples are as below.

You can also surrounds the waterfall but make sure you are with a local, it's kind of slippery. But the view is fascinating! There's a cave behind the waterfall, you get to see beautiful seaweed and rare plants :)

Coming back to these bamboo rice, so so delicious. You first wrap the rice with leaf and then put it into the bamboo, fill it with water and burn it on the fire upright. It is ready to serve in approximately one hour. You can consume it with beef floss or beef can meat. *saliva dripping*

Ending this post with fresh passion fruit they called it markisa.
