Sekinchan Part I

It's girl trip! It had been such a long time since our last outing and this was rather casual too. We drive all the way down to this village which is recently seem to be famous. There's also a few tour company who provide this one day trip to Sekinchan from Kuala Lumpur charging per person around RM100 which include transport, meal and ticket.

Sekinchan have three village namely Village A, Village B and Village C. We first travel to Village A for fruits. Heard that their mango here is famous. But the four of us with the very weak internet speed here, Waze couldn't direct us to the right direction and so we are lost in the middle of paddy field. We came down from the car and took a few photo with the paddy field. Bump into a temple and walk around.

We continue our journey by asking an old lady for the direction to the fruit farm we found on web. But, she wasn't familiar to this tourist attraction so she instead bring us to another fruit farm which own by her son in law. She ride on her motorcycle and lead us the way. The people here are friendly, just ask if you are lost.

They own a guava farm, bumpy road with red sand and a little mud. The owner straight ahead pick one of his guava, wash it and cut on the spot for us to try. The guava taste so nice, it's the not the normal ones we get from night market. It's fresh, sweet not bitter, crunchy, and big in size. So aunt straight away ordered 30 guavas from him.

My sister squatting down for the shed trying to hide from the sun. The plant here is rather short and small in size, but incredibly producing big size fruit. We saw also few mango tree and papaya tree plant at their neighborhood with the same concept of small size tree, big size fruit. I wonder is it something to do with the fruit species or their soil?

After weighing and paying, we later depart to Village B, the rice processing factory with more paddy field. The ticket to the rice processing factory cost RM5 which include also a pack of 280g rice. When you first enter, there will direct you to a room which they played you a video on rice processing and a person explaining to you the different types of rice they produce in this factory. And later you will be tour and watch how they process the rice.

We drive a little further into the bumpy road and got lost again for the second time. Despite the beautiful scenery, we park our car aside and have our photo session with this beautiful paddy field. My models are ready and are posing for the camera.

If you wish to come, please do check out the growth of paddy field first to avoid disappointment. This photo is taken around late April giving the green going to mature and produce rice grain. It will turn golden yellow around early May and it takes only 10 days for them to harvest it ;) See if I have any chance to capture the golden yellow moment.

Sekinchan Food

Had a rather random trip to Sekinchan with aunt and cousin. Talking about Sekinchan, you will think of the paddy field and fishing village. But what I want to share here is the food, so cheap and fresh plus delicious. Took too many photo with the beautiful scenery of the paddy field and beach, will share it later after this post I guess? :P

So, let's start with our tea time or rather we call it the brunch? We had some light snack at the paddy processing factory after our tour in the factory itself about the processing of rice. The snacks are all made from their product which is the rice. It was just so so but definitely special I would say? Rice popiah and dessert of red bean or corn with rice. The rice popiah is too hard to crunch on although it's fried. But the hot red bean is worth the try though. Order it hot, not the cold ones. Although cold ones is much more cheaper which is RM2 while the hot ones will be RM3 per cup.

We had our late lunch at Jiann Chyi which is famous with their shark meat. Oh, the restaurant is close at 3pm so make sure you come earlier. This restaurant is rather famous and easy to spot, it's located right after your turning to the village. And the crowd outside the restaurant definitely level up your curiosity. A photo snapping the sky together with the building, trying hard to be artistic as I'm waiting for my queue. While waiting, they will first take your order so when you get a place to dine the food will arrive just few minutes later. We ordered ourselves shark porridge, fish maw and sweet potato leaves. And not to forget their homemade sha li drink. Our total bill is just around RM55.

We have our sort of snack at the beach with a plate of fried squid and coconut drink. A total bill of RM17. Nothing special on the food but the scenery is breathtaking. There's also a few stall selling kerepok and souvenir.

Lastly our dinner at Lon Chen, the best meal! The food is so so fresh, come just right with the sauce, and the generous portion of small size dish with cheap price. But you will need to wait for some time before you are being served. It's air condition, so that doesn't matter anyhow. It open at 5.30pm, the earliest restaurant open for dinner we found. We order sweet sour bobtail squid, lala soup, vegetable and crab. There's no photo for crab cause I'm just too excited to eat and totally forgot to take a picture of it. And guess how much does all this cost with tea pot and 2 rice. It's only RM63! So so cheap I tell you, definitely worth it cause it's so so nice.

Might travel to Sekinchan again next week, haha! Remember to bring along your ice box if you want to buy their seafood fresh there, there's eel, cuttlefish, prawn, shark, crab and etc. The price is rather standard. I bought their fish ball previously, it was so so nice and you know it's fresh from the first bite, definitely different from the already pack freeze storage ones. Will love to go back and buy another pack.

Bukit Cahaya, Shah Alam

After living in a city for some time, you need a break time for some green scenery and fresh air, haha! My Johor friend often laugh at me and call me the city people. We often travel or had a small getaway to some village or park with tickets and some expenses just for some fresh air while she has fruit tree near the road almost everywhere. Anywhere, she's currently having internship in Kuala Lumpur and now she too need to buy a ticket for trees, haha!

We decided to have a walk and a little bit of hiking at Bukit Cahaya. My last visit here was few years ago and I have no idea how big this agricultural park had turn to. We reached around 9 in the morning and bought our ticket at the counter. Our first station, ride on the bus and head all the way to the four season house. It's spring and the temperature is around 8 Celcius. It's great to be in a cold room but you can't just stand too long in the room cause it's freezing. The time we walk out from the cold room our glasses are all fog up and only we realized all six of us are wearing glasses. Nevertheless, the flowers are beautiful and the aroma smells so so good.

We continue our journey by random walking. And this is what we saw, a tall tall building opposite the lake and we decided to climb up there. The stair is steep, just make sure you climb up slowly and you'll reach the top. Be extra careful when you are climbing down too.

We had another random walk on the road to we-dont-know-where. And we end up here at the small animal park. Limited animal, a little smelly but very adorable and smart animal.

The porcupine, cute and small in size. They move unlike those animal in the zoo, so so lazy or maybe too tired of seeing human. We are so lucky to have see them being feed. Guess what's their food? Banana and sweet potato!

The rabbit in the cage.

The parrot who speaks. We took quite some time here trying to talk to it. "Hello" and "Apa khabar" is what we got. It somehow turn crazy and scream for some while being naughty but overall it's smart. It's fur so white, clean and beautiful. But at some point, it keep on scratch it's body, maybe itchy?

Guess what's inside? Iguana!

The deer, hungry deer. We saw some other tourist feeding them with leave and grass and so we follow. They have nothing green inside the cage, not even a fallen leaves and we guess that they are over hungry cause we saw some trying to chew on the branch. Do feed them if you ever visit them.

And lastly the pony, skinny pony, we can even see their ribs. They are afraid of us, human when we try to walk closer to them but in the meanwhile we are afraid of them too. The two stick, the only barrier between them with us. We scared if they might just jump out and kick us while them I'm not sure why they are afraid of us. They munch on their food quietly and even trying to avoid us.

We couldn't manage to walk around the whole agricultural park, only certain spot. It had been too long since we exercise, we only spent 3 hours inside and we are too hungry for lunch. Next time maybe hiking? But, don't think we get reach the top. Swimming is still the best I guess. Will need to exercise more not only to keep fit but for a healthy body and detoxification, sweating.
