Sapa, Vietnam

Booked a bus in the morning to Sapa from Hanoi through our hotel with the price 550k VND to and fro (2 ways journey). Reaching there take around 6 hours journey, it's quite comfortable throughout the whole journey as it's a sleeping bus where everyone has a bed to lay on, they even provide you with a pillow and blanket. The only cons is that there's no toilet available throughout the whole highway journey. Experience diarrhea stomach problem during my journey bad, most awful experience I had, asking the driver to find me a toilet and he got me an open public toilet without a door and tissue.

Our lunch reaching Sapa, hotpot! The most accommodating food in a cold weather. We opt for the salmon chicken hotpot set where they serve salmon and big chunk of chicken, order also a plate of fried rice because every seat is required to order a dish. The bill comes with a total price of 370k VND, not cheap but reasonable for places like this. Such as Cameron and Genting Highland price is higher than the land, that's what I trying to say.

We later than after booked a tour with the hotel for the next day. So, today is free and easy. Walking in this chilling weather is cool and great. The fog gets thicker reaching night time. Here I bought the famous Cafe Viet Nescafe where I asked my colleague to buy for me when she went on a trip to Hanoi but cannot be found anywhere. Don't think the normal Nescafe in Vietnam wording is the same from the Nescafe that have the Cafe Viet on though both are coffee with milk.

Sapa doesn't have Grab and so we are not able to visit those famous Instagrammable cafes that my friend sent me because it's not a place for local food. We random walk uphill making our way to find a good cafe to sit in. And here we are in a fancy one called Dao cafe mainly because they have an offer for beer and it feels mysterious on the upper floor. The interior and environment turn out great. Coffee is served in fancy ways too. We stay there from beer happy hour to coffee session and lastly we settle our dinner there having western food (a plate of carbonara spaghetti and a regular pepperoni pizza). Total bill 450k VND, a great deal for 5 hours of chit chat just talking about random stuff.

Next day we start our journey early with a tour we booked. We got a free breakfast (banh mi) from the hotel. Forget to introduce the hotel I'm staying, Sapa New Orient Hotel. The host is great, I remembered we had difficulty to speak with her staff as she only speaks local language, Google translate doesn't help too because the local dialect is different. The host even called us through the phone a few times. Even though we checked out from the hotel waiting for the bus to fetch us at night, we get to bath at the public toilet down there and were served with a cup of hot coffee. Hospitality is 100 marks, thank you very much. Because I did not study much on this trip and hence I did not bring any shoe or hiking shirt to wear for this tour. I actually walk with a slipper and nonsuitable clothes. Make it lastly too with the help of the local people although I did not buy any souvenir from them at the end as the price is way too high. This is a trip and walks that definitely worth, now let the photos speak.

Tour was around 6 hours. We later went back to bath and clean ourselves. Dinner in a random shop and wait for our 9pm bus back to Hanoi.

Ninh Binh, Hanoi

We booked a trip to Ninh Binh not knowing where is the place and what are we going to experience. We just want to spend fully our days to explore the whole of Hanoi as much as we can. So we grab the chance for all the trips available. And this trip is not as expensive, it cost only 33 USD. As mentioned in the previous post, you probably could grab a cheaper option on the street from different agency provided.

I definitely found this trip worth all the bucks I paid for. Continue reading it and I'll share you my experience as much as I remembered. (I forgot most of the thing as when I post this, it was half a year back already, I don't have a robot mind, I promise to faster clear out this trip post so I could post on another recent trip.)

Our first stop is this Hoa Lu Temple. A lot history story happening between the king and queen then remarried and then kingdom conquer again.

Lunch is in buffet style. You get to pick whatever you like and had some traditional Vietnam food to opt. This meal was actually luxurious as compared to the one we had in Halong Bay. This taste really good and I love the wide variety they provide and no sharing meal with strangers because it's awkward.

We did some cycling around the rice field. The road is slightly bumpy and small. I had not been riding for years actually find this hard but those who are used to riding, it was a simple ride with beautiful view and it is windy not too hot in March.

They called Ninh Binh as Halong Bay land, and my friends love this place as compared to the real Halong Bay. However, after searching on the website, this place is actually specifically called Tam Coc. Ninh Binh boat riding is another different experience and view and less tourist and scam. Our boat riding not to say we experience scam but it does sound a little forcing on us to give tips. We are asked to snap photos and pay for it, this still ok la consider the view quite nice. But rower had been paid by our tour guide for the service, after rowing to the end there will be a lot boat there selling drinks and foods, we are half force to buy drinks for her but we insist not to so she just don't want to row back. Waited for like 3 to 4 boats turning back only she unhappily row us back to the shore but once again ask tips from us. End up we actually paid her 1 USD because we felt helpless.

Our first rower is the small little boy at the age of 9 but after half an hour I think we are probably too heavy for him, he gave up and switch to a lady rower. He's pretty cute, don't you think so. For this cute little boy probably we will tip him willing la, but no chance la since he left us so early. And he probably got all the attention while rowing us cause he's the youngest among all rower and almost everyone passing by us took a photo of him. He was still practicing, not a full time yet. We are his first passenger :)
