Melaka One Day Trip (Part 2)

This is the continuous post of the previous ones, you can click here to read so I shall continue with what I had another half of the day.

This time we visited cafe for their durian cendol rather than the usual street ones as it's introduce by a friend from Melaka! Justberrys Desert House is the name, they have literally the best durian cendol and I'm not exaggerating about it! You know this cafe nailed it when you first step your foot in, the smell of the durian literally fill up the whole cafe. (Be aware if you hate durian lots)

This bowl below is heaven! Although the price might be slightly higher but the filling they use worth the price. Firstly, the gula melaka authentic ones, the fragrance and taste of it so so good. Follow by that one scoop of durian ice cream, certainly not the normal flavoring ones. It's more like eating the durian flesh itself. (Highly recommend for durian lovers)
Durian cendol (RM8.50)

Apart from the durian cendol, this taste equally good! So much of matcha, the snow ice just won't melt. Both order ends up in a bill of RM28 (they charged 6%GST), slightly high end price but tasted really good you will come back another time for more. They do have promotion from time to time, on my last visit they had this promotion of RM5 for a cup of latte, matcha jelly of buy one free one and the milk tea series jelly 50% off on your second purchase.
Match Miruku Yuki (RM18)

After our dessert, we decided to walk around Jonker walk while waiting for the dawn to dusk. There's a small park there too with Gan Boon Leong statue. We had our ootd photo taken at the park too.

It's dinner and we continue our food hunt with satay celup Ban Lee Siang. It cost RM1 for each stick. It's self service, first you choose what you want from the fridge beside, put it in a tray and carry the food back to your table. Lastly, soak it into the bowl of satay sauce in the middle of table. There will be staff refilling and stirring the sauce from time to time so that those nuts won't get burn at the bottom. Something different from the usual lok lok? Anyway the portion is small and there's not much choices for you to select, not something I favor but special (can try). We end up with only 30 sticks and mostly vegetable of kangkung, chilli and ladyfinger.

Our last stop before we leave, never forget to visit Longkang Lala located at back alley of Jalan Bunga Raya near Madam King shopping complex. There are two stall named Tong Bee and Capitol. Capitol is close so we tried the Tong Bee ones, they said both are equally good. They are famous with their siham (cockles) and lala (clam). Here's how it look: dark, dirty, you might frown and hesitate if you want to grab a sit and order the food, fret not it's still safe under some regulation I think why not try once (but if you are a very hygienic people forget about this stall).

This sauce is actually the bomb! Of course their food is cook skillfully too.
Homemade sauce

Lala (RM2)

Siham (RM2)
This siham is served half cooked and contain blood if you didn't request them to fully cooked it. We are frighten when we first opened the shell and saw blood despite that we still eat it. We later request for a fully cooked siham on our second order and only we realized why they served half cooked siham. It's more chewy compared to fully cooked which is dry and dark in color (look not fresh). We end up ordering 5 dishes and a plate of cuttlefish with kangkung.

This is the crowd when we are leaving, it's a lot of people and it's a weekday!

Melaka One Day Trip (Part 1)

Melaka, a tourist attraction spot for historic building and story. But for me, definitely not to miss out the food part. My sister had been a fans of Melaka, not to mention her N times visit to Melaka only for food hunt and with her past experiences and review, I get to eat the best food in Melaka. One day is never enough for all the food, hoping for another one. *greedy*

Our first stop, nyonya cuisine! When Malaysian talk about Melaka, baba nyonya will be the first that hit their mind. Their food and clothing are different. You can find plenty of these in Melaka, enjoy the uniqueness of it.

We first went to Amy Heritage Nyonya Cuisine but it's fully book. Our trip is on a weekday so I advice you to better make a reservation to avoid disappointment. We actually went to a few more restaurant and it's all close. So we by chance drive pass Nancy's Kitchen and were more than excited seeing it open (they actually closed on Tuesday) and only we realized they operate on a school holiday week. Below are the food we ordered, all in small portion.
Soursop juice (RM4.50)

Pork Pongteh (RM15)

Curry chicken (RM15)

Fried egg sambal belacan (RM10)

Vege (RM8)

Steam rice for 5 (RM7.50)
The drinks is a little too sweet for us but the food is good, definitely worth a try. Aunt love the pork pongteh, their sauce is unique. Curry chicken together with the santan, I personally love it. Their fried egg sambal belacan, the sambal belacan is the bomb. And the bill come with total of RM81.80, not expensive really.

Next we visit this nyonya kuih shop, Baba Charlie. They sell lots of kuih, so colourful with santan, stick rice, shredded coconut, etc. Apart from kuih, they do sell rice, mee, pie tea cup, etc. but we are too full for that, maybe next time.

Here's a show of how colorful the kuih is. We actually ended up buying most of it. As the seller say the kuih can be store up to 3 days in the refrigerator. We ended up eating all the kuih the other day anyway.

This is actually their famous durian apam balik but me and my aunts don't really favor this, too much of flour and no filing :(

This is good! Their santan and gula melaka in it.

This is unique you got to try.

Our trip continue with sightseeing of christ church which is the symbolic red house of Malacca. All the building here is painted with red paint, so beautiful for some instagram worthy photo, should have shoot more photo here. Aunt always ended up buying something while we walking through the stall.

After walking under hot sun, something cooling is indeed needed. Here we come for the famous coconut shake. It's crowded with people but the order come very fast, thumb up for their service. The drink was so so for me but sister and her friend like it very much, their must visit drink. We later order some side dish, not bad lar but pricey (compared to KL).

Coconut shake with ice cream (RM2.40)

Lekor (3 for RM1)

Nasi lemak (RM1.40)

Did bought some cake back too, this is from Yeast Pastry House located beside Nancy's Kitchen. Nice but pricey at the same time, can have a try if you love swiss roll.
Yam pudding swiss roll (RM12.50)

Black sesame swiss roll (RM9.50)

Cream cheese cake - Winter Magma (RM13)

This is good! They have samplings for you to try before you buy it. They also have a little small corner for you to have your high tea.

This post concluded what we did in the day, will be posting another one on what we did at night (basically more eating).

Kedai Kopi Shin Lok @ Jeram

Will just love to share a few photo about this interesting kedai kopi (coffee shop) at Jeram.

So, what make it interesting?
In this shop you can find 3 races of people sitting down to chit chat from a variety from toddler to folks enjoying their famous pau and kopi (coffee), a truly Malaysian kopitiam.

Vege pau (RM1.50)

Yam puff - Wu kok (RM1.70)

Kopi ice RM1.90
Peppermint tea
As you can see, it opens at 7am to 5pm. We reach here around 4pm, most of the pau are sold out so if you opt to taste more flavor do come early ;)

Nga ku bee hoon
Lala fried bee hoon (RM6)

The mee was just okay but the coffee, pau and environment is good! It's a great place for catch up and talk if you like old school kopitiam (of course no aircond).
